On May 12th, Professor Mark Robinson from Newcastle University's School of Engineering, who also serves as Vice President of the European Conference of Transport Research Institute, and Cristian Ulianov, Director of Newcastle University's Future Mobility Centre, visited XMUT for academic lectures and exchanges. Pan Deng, Deputy Secretary of the XMUT Party Committee, met with the delegation. Representatives from the International Cooperation Office and the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering participated in the meeting.
Deputy Secretary Pan Deng extended a welcome to the guests on behalf of XMUT, expressed gratitude for the long-standing support from Newcastle University's School of Engineering in academic and research collaboration with XMUT, and provided an overview of XMUT's recent developments. The British side stated that the cooperation between the two parties in fields such as rail transit and vehicle engineering has yielded fruitful results. They expressed commitment to increasing resource investment in the future to jointly enhance capabilities in scientific research innovation and disciplinary development.
It is reported that since signing an agreement in 2015 to jointly establish the "Rail and Vehicle Research Center," both sides have identified relatively stable research directions by combining scientific frontiers and their respective disciplinary strengths. They have continuously attracted and assembled an international academic team, established a joint postgraduate training mechanism, jointly organized and participated in numerous international academic conferences and workshops, and collaborated with enterprises like CRRC Group and Geely Group on various industry-university-research-application projects, including advisory consulting and commissioned research.
During the visit, XMUT's School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering also renewed the cooperation center agreement with Newcastle University's Future Mobility Centre and appointed Cristian Ulianov as a visiting professor. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on future cooperation plans and look forward to new achievements in areas such as scientific research collaboration, joint postgraduate training, and high-level academic cooperation.
